Protect Your Body's Internal Detox System

Biomarker Testing for Liver and Kidney Health at InSyght Health

Your liver and kidneys quietly manage some of the body’s most important tasks. These organs filter toxins, process nutrients, and regulate fluid balance. Subtle changes in liver or kidney function often appear in lab results before you feel any symptoms.

At Insyght Health, we provide liver and kidney health testing that goes beyond routine blood tests. Our approach combines blood tests and urine tests to check enzyme levels, albumin levels, and filtration rates to provide you with a full blueprint of your health and a direct path to optimization. We help you spot liver damage, kidney disease, or chronic kidney disease in their early stages so you can take action sooner.

Early Detection

Identify liver problems or kidney damage before you experience symptoms

Comprehensive Analysis

Evaluate liver enzymes, creatinine levels, and urea nitrogen

Actionable Results

Understand your test results with clear scoring

Better Tracking

Monitor kidney health and liver function over time

Check Kidney Filtration with Blood and Urine Markers

eGFR vs Creatinine for Kidney Health

Creatinine is a waste product from muscle mass that healthy kidneys filter out of the blood.

If creatinine levels rise, it can be a sign of reduced kidney function. The estimated Glomerular Filtration Rate (eGFR) calculates how well your kidneys are filtering. This combination of kidney tests helps detect chronic kidney disease at its early stages. It’s more informative than looking at creatinine levels alone. Tracking your eGFR alongside blood urea nitrogen (BUN) provides a deeper look at how well your kidneys are performing.

Assess Liver Enzymes With a Simple Blood Draw

ALT vs AST  (Liver Enzymes)

ALT (alanine aminotransferase) and AST (aspartate aminotransferase) are liver enzymes found inside liver cells.

When liver damage occurs—such as from fatty liver disease, alcohol, or medications—these enzymes leak into the blood. By looking at both AST levels and ALT together (and their ratio), this liver function test gives a more complete picture of your liver's health. Elevated levels can signal conditions like non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), other liver problems, or health conditions requiring further tests.

We include these liver function tests as part of a broader comprehensive metabolic panel, often alongside albumin levels, bilirubin levels, and alkaline phosphatase.

Identify Fatty Liver Risk Early

GGT Test for Fatty Liver (NAFLD)

Gamma-glutamyl transferase (GGT) is another key liver enzyme we measure. High GGT may indicate fatty liver disease, even when ALT and AST are within a normal range. It’s also helpful for uncovering other substances or other factors affecting liver function.

This blood test adds valuable context to your liver panel and is often paired with alkaline phosphatase and albumin levels for a fuller view of both liver detox and metabolic function.

Detect Kidney Stress Before Damage Occurs

Urine Microalbumin/Creatinine (UACR)

Your kidneys should keep albumin, a vital protein, in the blood. When albumin levels in the urine rise, it may indicate kidney damage or a risk of renal failure. The urine albumin-creatinine ratio (UACR) test measures how much albumin is spilling into the urine compared to creatinine levels.

This urine test is essential for anyone at risk of high blood pressure, diabetes, or kidney disease. Even low levels of albumin in urine (microalbuminuria) can signal early kidney health issues. Paired with blood pressure readings and other kidney tests, it provides a powerful early warning system.

Understand Your CKD Stage

eGFR and CKD Staging

The glomerular filtration rate alone is just a number.

CKD staging places your eGFR in context to determine your risk of kidney failure or progression of chronic kidney disease. By combining your test results (eGFR, creatinine, albumin, and blood urea nitrogen) with your blood pressure and other health conditions, we provide you with a clearer roadmap for prevention or treatment planning.

Comprehensive Testing for Long-Term Organ Health

What Are the Benefits of Liver and Kidney Health Testing?

Regular liver and kidney health testing gives you insights into your general health beyond what routine blood tests reveal.

You’ll learn how well your liver and kidneys are detoxifying, filtering blood, and maintaining important substances like albumin and amino acids. For many people, this data informs nutrition, supplement use, and treatment decisions. It can also indicate when to request additional tests, such as imaging or prothrombin time, if your test results are outside the normal range.

Track Your Progress With Confidence

Liver and  Kidney Testing Results

When your results are ready, our clinicians review your enzyme levels, creatinine, albumin, and bilirubin in the context of what’s optimal for long-term health—not just what falls within a typical range.

These insights reflect how well your liver and kidneys are functioning today and whether additional testing may be useful. Based on your results, we’ll guide you through proactive, personalized steps to support organ health and prevent issues from progressing. Our team is here to help you make informed, sustainable choices that protect your well-being over time.

Am I a Candidate for Liver and Kidney Health Testing?

Proactive Approach to Lasting Health

You may benefit from these function tests if you:

  • Have a family history of liver disease or kidney disease
  • Are on long-term medications affecting liver function or kidney function
  • Have high blood pressure or diabetes
  • Are proactively monitoring your health conditions or longevity plan

There is very little risk with these blood tests or urine tests, which use only a small needle and a single blood draw or test tube sample.

Why Choose InSyght Health?

Precision You Can Trust

Our testing goes beyond standard comprehensive metabolic panel screens. We combine multiple liver function tests, kidney tests, and proprietary scoring to provide an accurate assessment of your current health status. By doing so, we help you identify health issues early and plan treatment or lifestyle changes with confidence.

Liver and Kidney Health Testing

Frequently Asked Questions

Not usually. Fasting rarely affects these test results, but follow any instructions you’re given before your blood draw.

Low albumin levels can indicate kidney damage, liver problems, or nutritional issues. We’ll recommend further tests if needed.

Yes. Our liver and kidney health testing expands on the standard comprehensive metabolic panel to include more markers like GGT and UACR.

Some urine tests and kidney tests can detect red blood cells or protein loss as part of evaluating kidney health.

Hydration, blood pressure, medications, and other factors can temporarily affect your enzyme levels or creatinine levels.

If your test results show elevated levels, we’ll explain what they mean and guide you on other tests or treatment steps.

Yes. Our liver panel often includes bilirubin levels and total protein to complete your liver function profile.
